7 TV Shows That Need To Go Away!

Pin It Now!

Madamenoire.com composed a list of 7 shows they believe should have called it quits awhile back. Show that made their list inlude:

  • 106 and Park
  • Jersey Shore
  • The Game
  • The Real World
  • American Idol
  • Basketball Wives
  • Teen Mom

I agree with all of the shows they mentioned. But I want to add my 2 cents and include a few shows I also think should go away!

  • Bad Girls Club - None of the girls are really bad, just loud and crazy. There's a difference.
  • Gossip Girl - Everyone used to talk about this show, now I hear nothing about it.
  • America's Next Top Model - Got boring after a few seasons. Plus the models never make a big splash.
  • Toddlers and Tiaras - If  we've seen one little girl dressed like a hooker, we've seen them all. It's creepy.
  • Keeping Up With the Kardashians - Boring because who cares anymore? But I still love Khloe & Lamar.
  • Two and a Half Men - Boring after Charlie Sheen's crazy self was fired
  • Love & Hip-Hop - The first and second seasons in NYC were pretty good, but this trashy third season in Atlanta is way too scripted and sleazy.
What shows would you add to the list? I would love to see your selections.

No Doubt's 2012 Comeback!!!

Pin It Now!
No Doubt at the Teen Choice Awards 2012

All I can say is... about time. Lol. For real, I loved Gwen's solo album, but I was missing the old No Doubt days. So I was thrilled when they released their new single "Settle Down" last week(click here to watch). It gave me that 90's ska vibe that No Doubt does so well. The single was not the best to me, but it gets the job done.

But they threw me off when they performed at the Teen Choice Awards on last Sunday. I don't know if they wanted to or were asked to perform but I do not believe that was the best place for No Doubt to make their big comeback. Why? Because the Teen Choice Awards are full of a bunch of 11-16 year old girls that probably don't know who No Doubt is. All they want to see is Justin Bieber, the "Twilight" cast, and One Direction (whoever they are). I believe they should have waited for a more "adult-friendly" event to debut new music because no one was buzzing about them that night. Not with all the teen hormones in the air. Sorry.

But I have to give it to them. They all still look really good, especially Gwen Stefani who looks way better than the music chicks half her age. She is 42 and rocking it! Go Gwen!

Music of the Moment!

Pin It Now!
Carly Rae Jepsen
I hadn’t heard of Carly Rae Jepsen until about 2 months ago. But it felt like everywhere I turned someone was talking about “Call Me Maybe.” They were singing it and making it there Facebook status and I had no idea what they were talking about.
My first time hearing the song “Call Me Maybe” was during the this year’s Billboard Awards and since then I have been addicted to the song. It is just so catchy and the video makes it even better. And Carly seems so cute and innocent. I still can’t believe I am so late getting on the Carly train!

Is Music Too Sexy These Days?

Pin It Now!

I sure think so. Everything is about “I’m gonna do this to you” and “I want you to lick that.” I just want to listen to a plain song about everyday things and not feel sexually harassed. And is it so bad to have a song that I can listen to around my mother without becoming insanely uncomfortable.

I still remember when pure talent was enough to sell records. There was not a big need for graphic lyrics and half- nakedness. And if an artist did want to make a song with sexual themes, they would at least camouflage it in a witty and unassuming way. And we never knew what they were talking about until we got older and took another listen. What ever happened to being cute and coy, and leaving something for the imagination?

Music of the Moment!

Pin It Now!

The song I cannot get enough of right now is Colbie Caillat's- Brighter than the Sun. At first I had no idea who sung this song. All I knew was that it made me feel happy and bubbly inside when ever I heard it. Then the radio d.j. announced that it was by Colbie Caillat and it made so much sense. I have always loved her and her music. All of her songs make me feel that warm happy, so it made perfect sense. But since I was used to her chill and more laid back music, I was kind of thrown off for a minute. Since then I have downloaded and kept this on repeat.

Adele Still Has It!

Pin It Now!

After having emergency vocal cord surgery months ago, Adele recently gave an interview with Anderson Cooper and proved that she still has the pipes to blow everyone out of the water.

I am so glad to see that her voice was not affected by the procedure. I seriously thought that her career was over when I first heard about her throat issues. But the opposite is true and Adele can go on and continue conquering the world!

Watch a clip of the interview below where Adele sings "Rolling in the Deep" a cappella style and kills it.

Nicki Minaj: Setting Women Back One Video at a Time!

Pin It Now!

I don’t like Nicki Minaj at all so this might be a little biased. But if you have not seen the train wreck know as “Stupid Hoe” then you are one of the lucky few. I must say, in my opinion the song and video are tacky and very basic. One time in the song she disses Jennifer Aniston by talking about Angelina Jolie stealing Brad Pitt. Disgusting, right?

Everybody involved with this mess needs to be slapped. Who told her this song was going to be popular? Not her fans obviously, because everybody hates it. Have you seen the comments and dislikes this video has received on YouTube. They are killing Nicki on her Vevo Channel. This is my first time seeing a video with a higher dislike count then likes. The last time I looked the dislikes were: 106,111 and likes: 59,726. I think she might want to take this video off the web because it is derogatory and embarrassing for herself and women in general.

Common Vs. Drake

Pin It Now!
h0axrz1o
First off let me say that this is going to be interesting. I love Hip-Hop especially anything before 2000. So of course I love Common. Songs like “I Used to Love H.E.R.”, “Come Close” and “The Light” are on heavy rotation on my MP3 player. His music is like poetry and makes you think, unlike a lot of songs and artists these days. Rappers don’t love Hip-Hop like they used to. Now it is all about how much money and girls they have. There is no genuine love anymore.
Which brings me to this beef between Common and Drake. I don’t know how it started but animosity between old school and new school rappers have been brewing for awhile now. With some old school rappers claiming rap is dying and it is all because of the new stuff that has no substance. Which is for the most part true.
So on the new song “Stay Schemin (Remix)” which I guess originally featured Rick Ross, Drake, and some dude French Montana, Common remixed it and got on to diss Drake. You can here both of the rappers attacking each other. But my favorite part of the song is Common’s line “You ain’t wet nobody, you Cananda Dry.” I was dying laughing so hard. So I guess we wait and Drake’s response, but I don’t think he can top that. Common lyrically killed him. #CanadaDry
But for real, I hope all this stays clean and harmless. I don’t think this will turn into a Tupac and Biggie thing. Neither of them is hardcore like for that, but you never know.

What Happened to Ryan Cabrera?

Pin It Now!

Remember the cute guy with the spiky blond hair that used to date Ashlee Simpson back in the early 2000s named Ryan Cabrera?  Yeah, you probably don’t because he just seemed to fade away after a few hit songs and has barely made any hits since. The same thing probably happened to him that happened to Hanson, The Jonas Brothers and soon, Justin Bieber. He got older and as well as his target audience, and they moved on.

But I still have a few of his songs on my MP3 player and I still them. My favorites were “40 Kinds of Sadness” and “On the Way Down.” Swoon. But now he is older and less known and looks like Orlando Bloom from Pirates of the Caribbean, which is not bad at all, but it is drastically opposite of how he used to look.

J.D & Turk Reunite?

Pin It Now!

On Christmas Zach Braff and Donald Faison released their version of “Baby It’s Cold Outside” and it was hilarious. I hate that I am just now hearing about it today, but I cannot help but smile when seeing these two together. I loved them on Scrubs and I love them even more in real life. They have officially topped my list of favorite bromances! Sorry Vinny and Pauly :(

Mariah and Justin Bieber Duet

Pin It Now!
While watching one those celebrity Christmas specials on NBC the other day, I ran across a new video featuring Mariah Carey and Justin Bieber. They collaborated on a remake of Mariah’s classic song “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” And I am sorry to say I didn’t love it.

While I love Mariah, all she did was twist and turn and put on that “Am I pretty, am I pretty face” while wearing practically nothing. I know she does this in a lot of her videos, but there was an abundance in this video. She is drop-dead gorgeous and looks awesome after having twins a couple of months ago, but come on Mariah, you can’t dress decent even for a Christmas song?

And Justin was just as weird. His voice sounded super auto tuned and his dancing was annoying. I much rather preferred Mariah the 1st time around. What about you? I put both videos below so you too can witness this train wreck.

Is Christina Aguilera Pregnant?

Pin It Now!
Everyone is talking about last night's AMAs and Christina Aguilera. She came out and sang with Maroon 5 on their song "Moves Like Jagger" but instead of listening to the song everyone was noticing how thick Christina has gotten. Even though she has been thicker since the birth of her son, last night she looked like she could be... pregnant. I thought maybe the dress was too tight and made her look funny, but her stomach looked very round and uniform. Rumors are going around that she might be pregnant, but if it turns out that she is not, that will be totally awkward.

What do you think? Pregnant or not?

This Blast from the Past is in memory of the 90's rapper, Heavy D, who passed away today. Here is his hit from 1994 "Nuttin' But Love." He diad at the age of 44 and the cause of death is unknown at this time. I will always remember me and my mom playing his music in the living room. Awww, simpler times. R.I.P Heavy D!

Why All The Nickelback Hate?

Pin It Now!
I personally love, love, love Nickelback. But I have been reading some hateful comments about their upcoming performance during the half-time show of the Detroit Lions' Thanksgiving Day game. Fans of the team and residents of Detroit are furious about the choice to offer the Canadian band the half-time spot over all of the other great Detroit natives. I can understand there viewpoint, but some of the comments are so mean. For example, someone said, "Detroit is home to so many great musicians and they chose Nickelback?!?!?! Does anyone even like Nickelback?." Cruel, right. I really had no idea Nickelback was so looked down upon. Like I said, I personally love them.

Music of the Moment!

Pin It Now!
I guess this can also fit under "Blast from the Past", but anyway. Today I am feeling angsty and wanted to hear some chick rock. So I picked this song and put on repeat. My music changes with my moods so don't mind my music bipolarness(yep I made that up). One minute I will listen to rock, then the next hip-hop, then the next country. But that's me. I am a total music head.

Going Steady?!!!

Pin It Now!
Ladies and gentlemen, this song is why I do not like or appreciate new age rap music. Seriously in my opinion it is all garbage now. Now listen I was out yesterday and somebody pulled up beside and I heard this song playing and it really shocked me. So I looked it up when I got home, just to see who the artist was so I could write this blog about it. The song is "Goin' Steady" by Rocko (whoever that is). And here are some of the lyrics of this empowering song:

Blast From The Past!

If you were growing up during the 90's and early 00's, then you knew and loved boy bands especially N'Sync. You also had love Justin Timberlake (swoon!!!). Here is a song from his 2002 debut album "Justified", Like I Love You. Enjoy this video from my favorite fellow Memphian.
